Friday night in Manhattan is electric; everyone's workday is winding down but the young professionals are winding up, itching to get to happy hour and start their weekends. It was my first day as an editorial intern for Guest of a Guest, and as everyone's day was ending mine was just getting started. I left Meat Packing to attend the Meet and Greet with Restorsea Founder Patti Pao and Brand Ambassador Emmy Rossum (Fiona from Shameless) at Bergdoff Goodman.

Whoever created the phrase, the clothes make the man, must have been reflecting on an interview prospect. You may not know this, but your interview attire is the most significant outfit in your closet. That being said, we should always have a go-to interview outfit, even if you are not currently looking for a job. Why? Because chances are you will have a meeting with the big boss upstairs, will ask for a raise, will have an evaluation of sorts and guess what you should pull out from the depths of your closet? Your interview outfit!

Yes, it is true that your resume and demeanor are absolute factors in earning a position, a raise, or making a good impression but did you know according to Forbes, "a study done by Frank Bernieri, Ph. D, an associate professor of psychology at Oregon State University [concluded that] within 10 seconds of meeting your interviewer...that person has decided whether or not you're right for the job" (Dress For Interview Success). Did you catch that? Your fate could be decided in a mere 10 seconds! That is equivalent to a glance up and down...one time.

Maybe you find Dr. Bernieri's study inconclusive, but do you really want to chance it? I know I don't. Here are our 7 staples for creating the perfect interview outfit:

Sometimes something just catches my eye, and then I can't stop imagining the different ways in which I can design it into jewelry. Lately, I have been inspired by gold leaf. I absolutely love figuring out all the ways I can design earrings, necklaces, and bracelets with these pieces. Here is a sneak peek of some of my most recent designs!

We love watching the Golden Globes, and this year was a treat with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as the talented and witty hostesses. But besides for the sheer entertainment factor of seeing all of our favorite actors and actresses sitting at tables together, we absolutely love love love the fashion. But, how can we get these red carpet inspired looks? We got you covered! Check out our take on one of our favorite looks from the night, Lizzy Caplan in Emilio Pucci.

Weekend getaways save my spirit. Truly, they do. Traveling takes me to my happy place, a place where I can act like a wide-eyed child who can't possibly eat anything because she is filled with her own raw excitement. I have always loved to explore, and have never been tentative about going behind the door that says do not enter. Now, as an adult, I still open the door but I bring along my Canon.

Last weekend my adventurous spirit traveled to Burlington, VT, where I lodged at the Essex Culinary Institute and Spa. It was the perfect setting, twinkling lights and snowy sights greeted us (Brian and I) as we pulled up to the main house to check in.

To say the resort exuded warmth and hospitality is an understatement. The receptionist's last name was Bliss, and she was everything blissful and more. She upgraded us to a Manor Suite with a fireplace and kitchenette, handed me an activities calendar, and took the time to point out everything happening in the resort, and what she recommended.

Miss Bliss (not to be confused with the Miss Bliss from the early episodes of Saved By The Bell) also showed me the map of the extensive grounds, pointing out the underground tunnel that runs from under the Inn (the main building) to The Mansion where the bake shop is located, the spa, the outdoor hot tub, the bonfire circle for complimentary campfires, the two restaurants Amuse and The Tavern, and where they served free coffee, tea, cider, and cookies. The staffs' undeniable positive energy was infectious, so with a cookie (I ate it) and cider for Brian in one hand, and our key cards and room information in the other I headed back to the car.

When you enter the lobby of the main building, called The Inn, there are so many comfortable nooks to relax with a complimentary beverage, and each area has with their own fireplace.

And, what would a culinary institute be without a few well displayed desserts?

And for your pups!

The Manor Building.

The comfortable lounge area.

Our suite's kitchenette came with a Keurig!

Huge bed with extra pillows!

The fireplace warmed the room and was on a timer.

There is so much to do, and so many places to go within the resort! Which way?

To the spa!

Hey brides this place was chosen in 2013 by the knot for best wedding venues!

This resort was clean, the staff friendly and knowledgeable, and the location was prime for visiting Burlington shops, breweries, and dining. I strongly recommend this resort for couples, and families. I can't wait to return! This hotel is moderately priced, and can often be found on Groupon (what a steal) because it is under new ownership. So snatch your Groupon while you still can. We love deals!

To book a reservation visit the Essex Resort Website: Here

When you're going somewhere new, it is always hard to decide what to bring. Let Dusk & Rubies help! Here is what we brought on our trip to Burlington, VT and where we wore it.

Car Ride & Pub: Comfy is a must, and we love baseball hats to keep our heads warm. From New York, Vermont is 7 hours away. Think about the car ride and dress with this in mind!

Brew Tours: Beer drinking, outdoors, indoors, outdoors...indoor again. You need to be comfortable and ready for the cool weather. You also don't want to be over dressed. The locals will laugh, and you'll be upset when someone accidentally spills a beer on you.

Church St. Market Place: Cute shops line these cobblestone streets only open to pedestrians. Cute shops, and shopping call for an outfit with a little more thought.

Dinner w/ Friends: We had a great dinner with friends at Farmhouse Restaurant. The bar downstairs was cedar and dark, and I felt like I was back in Colorado. Wear your dressiest winter wear like our pick of the Stella McCartney metallic ribbed cotton cardigan.

Ready for the 7 hour drive...well, as ready as I'll ever be.

Perfect brew tour outfit warm, comfy, and complimented by the locals. I fit right in!

Here is a list of the pieces that will help you re-create the looks I wore while in Vermont. Maybe they'll even inspire you to create your own!

We did a lot of walking, taking in the sights, and touring breweries. It was the perfect mix of guy and girl fun, so Brian and I had an amazing time. They do say Vermont is for lovers, and I can tell you I fell it love with Vermont's kitschy Main Streets, green attitude, snow scenes, friendly people, and hoppy beers. So, let's get casual with these four outfit ideas and spend time enjoying a Heady Topper.
