Step 3:
Add a dab of hot glue at the bottom of the hurricane, press and secure the end of the twine into the glass.

Step 4:
Then wrap twine around the glass however many times you prefer. Once you have wrapped the twine around the glass enough times, secure the end in the back with another dab of hot glue.

Step 5:
Hot glue a sea shell onto the front, and you are FINI!

What you will need:
Scissors
Tape
Pencil
Decorative Letters
A Lighter
Ribbon
Wrapping Paper
A Picture Frame

Steps:

1. Use the glass part of the picture frame as the template to trace. Trace the glass square onto your choice of wrapping paper.

2. Cut out your square and tape it to the cardboard inside of your picture frame. Then tape a smaller piece of the color card stock you prefer. I chose a light grey as seen above.

3. Cut four pieces of ribbon an 1/8th of an inch longer than you need it to be. These pieces of ribbon will frame your card stock.

4. Use your lighter to heat the ends of your ribbon so they won't fray.

5. Tape your ribbon around your card stock.

6. Use sticker lettering (you can find these in the scrapbooking aisle) if you want, or you can draw your message out yourself if you're great at calligraphy.

7. Put your frame together and, voila!

Do you love to unwind by drinking a glass of wine? Well now you can unwind, recycle the wine bottle, and use it for some fun home decor.

Use a painted bottle as a vase. Just add a bouquet, and you have a beautiful floral display.

Use the wine bottle in place of a book end.  Just add pretty rocks, and some water to weigh it down.

Need a place to quickly stash your most used jewelry? Use a long stemmed bottle as a bracelet and watch holder.

Stay Lovely, and start drinking some wine!

Your bedroom. It should be your oasis, your little piece of paradise after a long day at work, and it should be a reflection of who you are. Well for the last week my room as been in disarray! You know the usual: pile of clothes on my director's chair, jewelry boxes overflowing and unorganized, craft center a mess, and laundry to do.  My inspiration for this post came from my decision to not only do some much needed tidying up, but a little redecorating as well!

If you know me un petit peu you may remember I worked at Pier 1, and if you know me really well then you know that I am always redecorating my room (I have been since elementary school). Cleaning has always been a way to decompress...I was, and continue to be a weird child. Anyways the few people who know me very well love hanging out in my bedroom because every time they do it is completely different.

I do not mean I just bought a new sconce and hung it on the wall, or re-organized my bookshelf lovelies. I mean I hang mirrors, take down mirrors, hang art, take down art, move heavy furniture across the room and back, until I am happy with the way the lighting hits everything. That kind of redecorating. I build things, and I break things down. I'm using power tools; I'm sweating, and I am installing my own handmade ikea inspired closet organizer. It is dangerous, and time-consuming, but completely worth it...until I want to change it again.

Today my objective was to create a foyer type entrance for my bedroom. I wanted  the entrance into my room to be neat, all clean lines, with nods to cultural pursuits, and give off that wow-effect . This is also the first way you can add style and/or organize your bedroom. Check out my "foyer" to my bedroom below. Tell me what you think in the comments below, and I hope you find these 5 Ways To Organize & Add Style To Your Bedroom helpful!

1. Don't be afraid to mix your Modern with your Ming!

2. Do invest in some fun light fixtures that play with texture.

3. If you can't see the clutter, then it's not really there, right?

4. Don't be afraid to turn your room into a gallery! A large piece of artwork, placed correctly, can draw the eye up and make your space look larger.

5. Design Basics 101: Use the rule of 3. While working at Pier 1 I learned about creating displays, and how information and objects that appear in threes are more appealing, memorable, and effective than other numbers of objects. By grouping objects in sets of three you build progression, and drama with spacing. Also the middle of the group of three then becomes the focal point.

Tell us how you incorporated these five easy ways to add style to your bedroom, or send us some pictures via twitter, facebook, or e-mail!

Stay Lovely, and start re-decorating.

My inspiration for this Get The Look is Phoebe Tonkin's soft and sultry make-up for a jewelry campaign. I love this shimmery look. It plays up light colored eyes, and looks great on summer skin.

Think of this tutorial like paint by numbers! First apply the white pearl makeup in the inner corners of your eyes as well as on your brow bone. Second, brush the gold shimmer over entire lid. Third, you're going to brush a bronze shimmer shadow all over your crease and half of your lid (the outer half).

I love this palette! So affordable and highly pigmented!

When you add your eyeliner make sure that it is as close to your eyelash line as possible, and extremely thin. Don't forget to curl your lashes and add mascara!

Candice Accola is one of my favorite actresses from The Vampire Diaries. She is cute, bubbly, has a strong sense of self just like the character she plays: Caroline Forbes. She shows off her great summer style with a new trend that I have been seeing more and more: the confetti dress.

The confetti dress can be tricky to style, but Candice styles it effortlessly with nods to this summer's hottest trends. Let's take a look at our two options below: the first a more affordable option, and the second a great investment with pieces that can be used over and over again!

I feel the first outfit is perfect for any summer party, barbeque, or family get-together, and the second I would wear for a night out on the town, an upscale restaurant, or even to a wedding! Hope you love this fun, fresh, and flirty look! Leave a comment in the comment section below telling us what you think!

Scarlett Johansson has always been praised for her curves, but she covers up for a more demure look at this year's Tony Awards red carpet event, and I love it! So take a look at this fierce picture roll, and then see how you can achieve a similar look for less.

What happened? Scarlett Johansson covers up her slimmed down figure as she arrives for the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York on Sunday

Signature pout: The Avengers star may have lost her curves, but she showed off her enviable full lips by sporting a deep red lipstick

We can all agree that giving is good right? Right! Well, Dusk & Rubies has been giving back and donating its time to non-profits, conservation funds, and start-up companies and projects that either inspire others, or aid others in finding success. We strongly believe that by doing your part you are not only helping others, but you are also paving the road for your own successful life. You get what you give!

Late last month my sister and I attended The Pencils Of Promise White Party which was a huge success. We were excited to not only donate, but also give our time. I also helped to spread the word about the P.O.P non-profit through the Dusk & Rubies blog, twitter account, and facebook page.

Dusk & Rubies was able to spread the word to over 1,000 people. So thank you to all of our viewers on all of our social media platforms. It is people like you, who take the time to give your time, which will help make our world a continuously better place.

Speaking of making the world a better place, I have been recently e-mailed about another opportunity to give. Of course I jumped at the chance, and I hope you do too! A friend of mine, Danielle Harley, had contacted me about the non-profit organization she is a part of called The Adventure Project.

The Adventure Project, as described by Danielle and the non-profit's website, is a new organization that aids those in developing countries by creating jobs. Becky Straw, and Jody Landers are the co-founders of this operation. Their vision? Is a world where poverty no longer exists, because they are "reinventing how we give". Think of it as a pay it forward type of program. If you visit their website, and we hope you do, then you can give back in four different ways. Your donation can go into creating jobs within the fields of: environment, health, hunger, and water maintenance for local wells. Their end goal is to make poverty extinct and their way of meeting that goal is to help create jobs, which will then help turn revenue, and profit in places that need an economic stimuli. Amazingly this non-profit has already created,"500 jobs benefiting 914,000 people".

How can you help? Well there is this new promotion going on right now! And I am super excited to bring it to you all. Geek Eyewear® (www.geekeyewear.com) has recently donated a new, limited-edition style of sunglasses to The Adventure Project. 100% of the sale supports the organization, and Danielle and I agree that they would make a great gift for Dad this father's day.

Here is the link to purchase these super trendy sunglasses: Purchase Sunglasses Here And if you really like them for yourself, then Great! They are considered unisex.

If you want to donate to the non-profit as well here is the direct link: The Adventure Project Give

Twelve Books

"Elementary", there was never such a more provoking word. A term that in its five tight dribbling of precise syllables told you that you were, and still are terribly mistaken, that in your solution, which you had probably thought was rather fetching, and ingenious was actually a world compromised of acute... misgivings.

You are correct. I am being too obtuse in my condescenion and Holmes would not approve. Elementary is a famed term, made more famous by the fictitious (I hear the Sherlockians gasp in horror at my jargon) man who spoke the word than truly the word itself. Maybe it was his canter- the way he knew everything about a person by the "cut of his shirt", or the band missing from their left digit, or maybe it was his uncanny but completely reliable arrogance for being just one step ahead of even the most brilliant minds. Maybe we were captivated by the mold of a beautiful bromance sculpted for us to have characters emulate for the rest of time (Lethal Weapon: Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh, Miami Vice Crockett and Tubbs...dare I say Tom Sawyer needed Huck Finn?).

If you are interested in mystery, a double mystery to be precise with a side of historical fiction then you will have a feast with this novel The Sherlockian. I am a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, partially because I am related to the Doyle's, whether or not I am related to Sir Arthur is still to be determined, but because of this I had a very strong interest in reading the Sherlock Holmes stories as a young kid. This novel is no exception.

A short synopsis? This novel follows Arthur and his close companion Bram (The author of Dracula) on a real case involving the death of a young woman who was a part of the woman's suffragist movement in the late 1800s. The novel also follows a present day mystery, through the eyes of Harold one of the youngest members of The Sherlockians (A real group of real people who spend their real time devoted to everything Sherlock Holmes. They consist of published writers on the various aspects of the literary body of work. The reader follows Harold as he tries to solve the mystery over a missing Arthur Conan Doyle artifact, which was found, but then lost again after its founder was presumably murdered. I don't want to give too much away, but if you're a true Sherlockian you would have seen that coming from page one so, no worries.

"The game's afoot!", so join in and read this undeniably accurate, yet also fictional dual mystery. Let me know if this novel kept you guessing, like it did me, all the way to the last page. If you want to check out more about the author, or the unique publishing company Twelve Books click the link below the picture of the novel.

This novel was a 10/10 for me, and I would suggest it to anyone who loves to read, loves Sherlock Holmes, and loves knowing the reason why.

Stay Lovely...

And Read!

I don't know about you, but I am still digging Selena Gomez's look from her "Come And Get It" music video. There are three major looks to her video, so we will take a look at all three!

Get The Look: Selena Gomez

Here is look #2: So this look isn't super conducive to everyday life, but why not try the outfit I created inspired by the look. Pair a tiered red cocktail dress with a statement necklace, a cut-out sandal, and don't forget your bindi!

Get The Look: Selena Gomez Look 2

Here is look #3: I love look three. It is so feminine and soft, especially in comparison to the other two looks in her video. To make this outfit more appropriate for everyday wear. Find a nude dress that drapes and is also a v-neck. This outfit is sans jewelry and all the attention is paid to the smokey eye. Add a nude stiletto with some super sexy ankle straps.

Hope you enjoyed this get the look. I am going to do the makeup how-to soon as well! In the mean time check out the music video below or click here: Come And Get It
