If you have been following Dusk & Rubies on Facebook then you probably know we write for Guest Of A Guest! They had sent me to cover the Fashion 2.0 Awards last Thursday and we had a blast! To see the article visit: HERE. What I didn't write about was what I wore, who I mingled with and what it was like for me a little blogger from New York.

Every now and then on Dusk & Rubies we post about how to be successful in life, Whether it be how to succeed at taking an online course, discussing wine or becoming a long distance runner we want to help you succeed at whatever goals you set for yourself. For me, learning and discovering new things is like breathing, not that it's easy or something that I do without thought, but rather something that is necessary in my life.

I am currently enrolled in a fascinating and helpful course called Modern Communications: Technology Systems and I am learning and gaining the resources necessary to create a positive online presence. This week's lesson is about a topic that I feel everyone should be knowledgeable about. Why? Well because this week's lesson is about something everyone has but is invisible to the naked eye. It is something that can work for us and aid us in our careers, or it can work against us and cause us career devastation. Need to know what it is? Alright, alright, this week we are discussing our digital footprints. So what is a digital footprint? What does yours look like? And how can we make sure they're working for us?

I tell you lovelies all the time how I feel like there is not enough hours in the day. And as I become older, I think time just passes by even faster! I honestly wonder if I really have more to do, or my time management skills are just not what they used to be. Whether it's because I seriously have more on my plate, or because my time management skills have escaped me I have, in the mean time, learned some amazing time saving tricks. Remember when I shared how to do your makeup in 5 minutes? Or, our how-to on looking pulled together when you're really not? Well here is another way I have learned to beat the clock, and this time it's a quickie for your digits!

We were honored when Warby Parker asked us to help introduce their new Spectrum Sun Collection. After having the awesome privilege to view the collection of 9 sunglasses before their launch, we were asked to highlight some of our favorite looks. Dusk & Rubies was up for the challenge, and we say challenge because we coveted every single pair! It was hard to choose a favorite! With colors that reminded us of iced coffees, sunshine, and D.C's cherry blossoms and retro frames that channel the likes of James Dean and Audrey Hepburn, this collection came out just in time to enhance our warmer weather wardrobe!

It has been a long time since we have discussed a good read and we are long overdue! The Last American Martyr by Tom Winton is a novella you won't be able to put down. Winton's approach to prose is clean and the development of plot and characters is as real as any life you've lived.  If you love character studies, psychological thrillers, and plot twists you won't see coming. This novel is one you have to pick up.
(Don't read this post any further if you haven't read the novel: spoilers ahead for discussion.)

“This place looks somewhat decent,” and “We won’t be in the room that much” are two phrases I hear uttered by friends far too much when their booking a place to stay. Now we have nothing against hotels, some of our favorites are right here in NYC, but if you’re itching to explore and want to stray away from the same-old-same-old then give your travel time a real face-lift  and choose to stay in a bed & breakfast. We recently stayed at the Sweetwater Farm Bed & Breakfast, so take a look and see what you’re missing. We have compiled a list of our top 7 reasons as to why you need to B&B and why you need to B&B soon!

I was instantly in awe, and yet felt completely comfortable while sitting down alongside Petra Nemcova. After she kissed me on my cheek three times ( I was ready for the two; I am French I know how this goes, but the third was a surprise!) I laughed and we introduced ourselves. I guess I should have picked up on that foreshadowing right there, being an English major and once upon a time AP English teacher. I guess I should have known that Petra and I were going to get along like we had known each other for years, but like that third kiss hello I was completely surprised! While we sat on the now empty stage inside Ann Taylor, after the panel discussion- part of the event that Glamour Magazine and Ann Taylor put together to celebrate International Women's Day, we laughed and became excited as we both realized we had so much in common. My interview quickly became real girl talk and I loved every second of it!

Okay, so International Women's Day was March 8th, but Dusk & Rubies thinks that everyday we should celebrate the women in our lives, and importantly ourselves! So, if you haven't already, tell a special lady in your life that you appreciate her; that you're proud of her; and that you're supporting her 100%. We all need this little boost of confidence, and these types of compliments go a lot further than the ones that compliment our shoes...but if you like them, feel free to compliment them too!

Where: Grace Winery At Sweetwater Farm

Other Details: This week marked the first ever Main Line Fashion Week in PA, and we couldn't help but be completely interested! The runway shows took place inside the Grace Winery at Sweetwater Farms- an amazing rustic backdrop to some killer Spring looks. Wednesday night's runway show was hosted by Philly Blog Love founder Jessie Holeva. As she announced, we sipped wine, munched delicately on h'or doevres from 12 St. Catering, and soaked in some spring trends from: Out There Outfitters, Sache Boutique, Element 6, Tish, Gramercy, and Van Cleve.

It was at the amazing Cycle 4 Survival event hosted at Equinox Fitness this past Sunday, that we had the pleasure to sit down and talk with the lovely creature that is Lo Bosworth. As Lo tucked into her quiche dressed in her workout gear post cycling she enlightened us as to what inspired her to join the battle against rare cancer, her favorite way to stay fit, and what she does for fun.

It is like Alysia Reiner from Orange Is The New Black told us: "You guys have to be apart of it. This is my second year and I love it". A simple statement that holds a profound truth. Cycle for Survival is this can't believe it until you see it, can't understand it until your apart of it, high-energy, national, indoor team cycling event which raises funds in donation towards Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and their research into rare cancers.

So, you're snowed in...yet again. You've already cleaned your place, baked three different types of cookies, liked just about everything you could on Facebook, and now you're going stir crazy. Being cooped up like this has caused me to suffer from some severe wanderlust. So what to do? What to do? How about traveling to far away lands in the comfort of your pajamas? We are talking about taking you to the movies. We admit that after the enchantment of the movie wears off you may want to travel even more, but that is when we suggest watching another one of our travel themed movies. You'll be in Paris one hour, and Milan the next. Bon voyage!
